Do You Know Your Worth?

You are special. You are unique. You are intelligent. You have POWER. You are what you say you are. On a daily basis, I see many people who do not see their worth. Worth has nothing to do with having money, accomplishments, relationships, or anything in this world. Your worth starts with WHO your foundation is in - Christ alone. “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” Matthew 7:24-27 When you have a solid foundation, having all the finer things in life to lose it all in one day will not bother you. You will know that you belong to God. The world cannot make you or break you. So if you are reading this, and you do not have a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, stop right now. Confess that you believe in Jesus Christ. "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9 Ask Him to save you. Now, walk in the freedom of whose you are - child of God. This world will tell you that your worth is found in how much stuff you have. It is all a lie. When you lose that stuff, will your worth suddenly diminish? If someone walks out of your life and you no longer have a relationship with them, then will you not be worth anything? Your worth is so much deeper than what this world has to offer you. No spouse. No job. No house. No money. It cannot define who you are as a person. Those things will fade away. You cannot take those things with you to heaven, so stop clinging so tightly to them on earth. Remember, God created you for a special reason. You are in this earth for such a time as this. You have an assignment over your life to do something great! God chose you! Of all the people in the world, you are the one He wants to accomplish specific works in. God literally sent His perfect son on this earth just so that you could have a more abundant life. Wow! You mean so much to God. He has even counted the number of hairs on your head. Who else in this world would take the time to do this for you? God's love is enough. That should push you to see that nothing or no one in this world can tell you who you are. Here are five ways you can determine whether or not you truly value yourself. 1. You will set standards. Any and every one cannot have your attention. You have up this guard over your heart (Proverbs 4:23). To enter into your life as a friend, significant other, business partnership, church, job, and the like, that entity or person cannot come half-stepping. There are some non-negotiables that you are not willing to compromise. These are things the Lord has placed on your heart, not "I can't date him because he is not over six feet. I cannot attend that church just because the worship is too long." Those are fleshly ideas that will take you no where. Some standards include not listening to specific music as you are trying to get closer to God. Maybe you desire to abstain from sex before marriage because you want to do it God's way. Or you even refuse to have people treat you any kind of way. Your worth will really be shown when you are able to stand your ground holding up these standards when others try to tear them down. 2. People will approach you in a unique, respectable way. When people come up to you, they just will not say anything. They come to you with the right attitude and posture. They might even admire you from a distance, learn you, and then approach you. Those that come to you in an incorrect manner cannot get into an argument with you because you will not let them. You do not argue with others. You hold your tongue because you know whose you are. People tend to respect you more when you refuse to act like the world wants you too. 3. Your expectations are higher than what others may think they should be. Hebrews 10:10 says"We have been set apart as holy because Jesus Christ did what God wanted him to do by sacrificing his body once and for all." Since you are set apart, the world will notice something different about you. While some may admire, others may mock. They do not think you will EVER get what you are looking for. They tell you that you just have to give up on some of the things you want just to have something. They want you to settle like they did, so you can join their misery life club. 4. You will never settle. In no area of your life will you EVER settle. It is not an option. It is not in your vocabulary. You won't settle on the good life. You won't have better than you had before. You will wait patiently on the Lord to bring you his ABSOLUTE BEST! If that means you have to work harder than anyone else, then you will. If you have to be single for twenty years knowing you have a calling to be married, then you will wait on the Lord in all of that time. You will not rush ahead of God to create an Ishmael like Sarah, Abraham, and Hagar did. Your Issac in every area of your life will come forth in due time, so you do not mind waiting. 5. No one has to validate your worth. The person who knows their worth never shares an accomplishment with someone expecting them to affirm them in what they are doing. It does not matter how anyone else feels about what you have done, except yourself. You do not need anyone to tell you how great you are. In fact, you tell yourself every single day. No one can make you or break you. With love, A Woman Who Knows Her Worth
